Coronavirus Update

We know you have received a ton of emails about the Coronavirus from many places.  We want to let you know that we have updated our website with some information that we feel will be helpful, check out our Coronavirus page.

There are some ways you can helps as well!  Visit our page for full details:

  • For any health care workers in Seminole & northern Orange Counties, Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy will be hosting tele-listening sessions with off-the-clock health care workers so they can share their experiences and offer policy recommendations.
  • The Governor's Office is looking for nurses who might volunteer to help during this crisis if needed. Currently, the need appears to encompass nurses who are able to volunteer to do testing when there is a surge in any geographic location. The current focus areas are Jacksonville, Orlando and Miami.
  • Debate and negotiations continue related to the COVID-19 legislative relief package. We need you to urge your elected officials to express their support to Congressional Leadership for retaining the home health provision, which would authorize NPs to certify their patients' eligibility for home health care services, helping to ensure Medicare patients have timely access to home health care, and to include policies that ensure NPs and other clinicians have continued access to critically needed personal protective equipment.

And most of all, we hope that everyone stays safe and healthy through this unprecedented time.

We have also put together a Question & Answer page regarding Independent Practice.  We have been getting numerous calls and emails since HB 607 was signed into law so we have tried to answer the questions we have been getting here.

Keep in mind, there are a lot of details that will need to be worked out by the Board of Nursing and the newly formed council before it takes effect on July 1, 2020; FLANP plans to be a part of this process.  We will continue advocating on behalf of all NPs!!  As soon as we have any additional information we will update this page.  If there are any questions we haven't answered, please email us at contact@flanp.org.
