We NEED you to reach out to your Senator again!! SB 230: Health Care Practitioner Titles and Designations is on the Rules Committee agenda for Wednesday, 3/8/2023, at 1:30pm. This is the final committee it was referred to, meaning if it passes, it will go to the Senate floor to be read & voted upon.
To refresh you on this bill, it was originally filed on 2/9/23 then amended on 2/13/23 and passed as amended on 2/20/23 in the Senate Health Policy Committee. Although the amended language passed did overhaul the original bill removing items such as the restrictions on the titles "Doctor", "Hospitalist", "Intensivist", and "General Practitioner" as well as removing the role titles for APRNs (CNP, A-APRN, CPN), we urge you to oppose this bill in all forms as it is unnecessary given the current statutes regarding APRN practice.
We also urge you to oppose this bill as we oppose any attempt for discipline of APRNs to be given to the Board of Medicine or the Board of Osteopathic Medicine as such is statutorily within the scope of the Board of Nursing.
